I've been asked a few times to pin an archtop bridge to prevent movement and the loss of the intonation point during restringing. This technique can only be used on laminated top. A tunematic is recommended to reintonate in case of a string gauge or set-up change. Marking the bridge placement after the set-up. Drilling the hole for the dowels. The bit must be small enough not to ruin the threads for the posts. Dowels installed with white glue. Wood is fine but I prefer teflon pins. This is the trickiest part of the install. These 2 holes must be perfectly placed in order for the bridge to seat properly. This install is tricky and better left up to a pro.
